redirect users but not the player in files folder

I have the JW Player installed and running. By Javascript you can choose Movies and mp3s which then are runned in the player.
The files are in the files folder which has chmod 777, which is not the best configuration, i know ;)

If i change the permissions in this folder the player also cant access the mediafiles.

Is there a way to write a mod_rewrite in the htaccess to just redirect normal users, but let the player have access to the files ?
