creating of nodes from csv text in body field of another node.

This module sounds like part of what I need for a module I want to create. I would basically need the creation of a "raw log" node to trigger the creating of multiple nodes from the csv text in it's body field. What's the best way of creating a module to hook into that? This is my first attempt at creating a module.
