I've recently upgraded my site from 4.5 to 4.6 and I found the default "current" link brings up the correct day and month, but five years ago:

http://www.speak.org.uk/event/current

Any suggestions on what might be causing this?

Try to validate the Administration/Settings page. There is perhaps a problem with your 'date_default_timezone' configuration variable.

I still don't know what the problem is, but the simple solution for me was just to link to http://www.speak.org.uk/event instead, which comes up normally.
