I have a group of bloggers who I wish to give permission to manage comments posted by anonymous users, preferrably just the comments on their own blogs, but all is okay, since we are all working together. So I set the default comment setting for a personal blog entry to Read/Write... next I go to access control and give this group permission to access and administer comments. The problem is, when I give that group the right to administer comments, then the comment link doesn't show up under a new blog entry, and I have to go in to each new entry as the admin and change it back to read/write. If I remove the administer permissions, then the comment link returns. It seems like a catch22 situation... either allow comments and have one poor sap (me) administer them for the whole site... or give the admin rights back to the Registered users, and I have to edit every entry to change the comment settings. HELP!

I just tried this in a 4.6.5 system and could not repeat it.

Are you still having this problem? Have you updated to 4.6.5?

In my test the user also had "administer nodes" permission which this issue: http://drupal.org/node/42611 idenfities as being something that would "fix" the original problem identified in this issue (40569). I'm marking this issue as a duplicate of that issue.
