One of the complaints I have heard for this module is that it will slow down a site. This is not really a problem with search404 module itself, but with the Drupal core search module. Now that http://drupal.org/project/apachesolr is helping to solve the performance problem it would be nice to support solr (or even other search engines) when they are installed.
I'm not entirely sure what, if anything, needs to be changed to support this. If it's already done, then this should be switched to a "documentation" request to state this support on the project page.

zyxware commentedWe are planning to implement this feature. It will take sometime, we will keep you updated.
So the search404 will use hooks provided by solr search, if the admin sets it to do so.
