Fixed it. The Friend List now updates as per the IM Settings (default to 10 seconds), and the refresh link (when there's no one in the list) also works. BUT, until I can fix the CVS tagging issue, in order to get it you need to go to http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/contributions/modules/im/?pathrev... and download im.module and im.js
