Unofficial Rough Draft of Doc Logo(s)
as per request rough draft of possible artwork for docs logo.

** footnote: possible misunderstanding
I assumed this is for "tagging" or referring to Docs when speaking or including in presentations, web, or slides, etc.
with possible multiple ?options

1.) If this is the case then we need to narrow down to 1 or two choices // then we can format (size) appropriately.
2.) If this is not the case, then possible use, but please define ?more - Such as graphics / logos for docs or docs team use for ____. etc.

Artwork can be provided in PNG or/and original .AI files.

Maybe do some initial filtering yourself? Way too many options to have a sane discussion about. Ideally, just present the one you feel good about, then ask for feedback on how to improve it.

Also, I do think that before we can choose a logo, or even two, we'd have to do what Simon says and pick a direction. My suggestion would obviously be more geared towards the advertising of D.Docs rather than as a company brand.

I've been reviewing logo efforts by several modules.

You have a great start.

Might I recommend
1. More than 1 color - perhaps 'rock the doc' in a different color.. or 'rock' in color 2 and 'the doc' in color 3

2. Maintain a 3 dimensional look to the logo (use a drop shadow or highlights as from a light source)

3. Stack 'rock' over 'the docs'. Especially if you add the drupal drip at the beginning. We need this to be more 'square' in final width by height pixel count.

Or course, we could always go with one of the options you've graciously provided. Then once the projects have had time to finalize logos, we could revisit the use of color and dimension in our logo. .. I'm not trying to rain on your parade, for I have little if any graphic ability. Just wanted you to be aware of the other logo initiatives so our branding is unique but 'fits' within a cohesive branding approach.

This issue is a month old, I think we need an executive decision to place one up... Since they all look good just choose one. Then we can of course carry on this conversation to make it better?

On two counts.

I say to go with one of the top two choices as indicated by the replies, and let's begin using this logo for Drupal Docs stuff. It's not set in stone, it could be refined or replaced next month even, but we need a logo. I say we go with the second round that Design Dog has so graciously profferred.

Has add1sun even seen this issue?

It looks like someone filed one as a separate issue: #398412: Documentation logo idea. I'm going to close that issue as a duplicate of this one, but you might want to take a look?

Well the initial request put out was to have multiple logos/images/whatevers, so that isn't a dupe really. I reopened with explanation #398412: Documentation logo idea. Really we just need to add all of them to the handbook page.

Blast from the Past -

O.K. - Here goes... // I finally narrowed it down to Three!

I said a while back that I would give it another shot to just refine whatever I did so I finally came up for air and revisited this.

So, last call for alcohol. ~ I think this needs a bit more CowBell.

Keep in mind, all can be reformatted to a 'square' format or just about any size for that matter.

I just need the sizes. So, if anyone needs a specific size, color, change, or even an idea from past ideas ~ then email me via my contact form.
If anyone shows any interest, I'll format some square ones.

All of them are color compatible with DrupalCon SF 2010.

Hi There,

Hmm, I'm not sure on these. It seems a few miles away from your inital ideas which were going quite well I thought. Clean and simple is what is required in order to fit in with the new Mark Boulton d7 designs and yet still bring some "coolness" to Drupal Documentation. I hate to say this but I feel that you might have jumped the gun on creating these buttons before a cohesive "logo" was set down.

I thought what you had in the inital stages had potential (see attached) - also logo version 2 from DRUPAL_DOCS2b.gif looked great.

Anyway, I hope this is helpful and not just a step back.

Thanks for the input.

The problem is I never really got enough input initially to tag what the 'end use' of this would be.
Other than Unofficial Logo to be placed in under the doc handbook section.

That's also why I ended up creating 'badges' so that people could put them on their website to 'promote' Drupal Docs.
Possible marketing from the Doc Handbook.

The truth of the matter is: All of these have been created AND anyone of them can be colored, resized or refined for Use.
Or a couple more 'simplified,' I agree, could turn out to be possible great logo placements. Or even, if there is a specific need for something, I can create it.

Just needs to be decided I guess. Or just let me know.

The real problem is that Dogg just has too much creative talent and it keeps leaking out! ;)

I like the second one in #13 enough to buy it a beer and try to take it home with me for the night. I'm just sayin.

addison basically said that it's fine to have a selection (http://drupal.org/node/398412), so i'm posting these all to http://drupal.org/node/398394 and marking this fixed. if anyone wants to work further on defining a single main logo for docs, feel free to reopen or start a new issue. (if anyone wants to attach .ai or .psd versions of these images to the page and doesn't have perms to, also feel free to post here or open a new issue and i'll do it.)
