I am currently in test mode, upgrading my 5.16 site to 6.10. Though the process of recreating all my views (about 20+) is annoying, the convert tool is very helpful. My main problem it that after saving a converted view or even creating a new one, I'l get "Changes cannot be made to a locked view." as a message when trying to make additional changes. Again this is happening for both new and converted views. Forcing me to delete and recreate my views all over again. This issue does not seem to be exclusive to any part of Views. All sections and values within each section brings me the same error. Which is why I thought entering it in the views queue was my only option.
As a example I converted a FDA Recall view. In 5.x it was just a block view that link to the aggregation page. After setting up the view in the same fashion I realized I needed to put a aggregation filter on it. I choose to filter by title. In the field asking for the title there was the locked view message. I proceeded anyway and got this drop down menu saying "An error occurred at /admin/build/views/ajax/config-item/FDA_Recalls/default/filter/title". I have emptied the Views Cache as well as my browser's just to be sure.
Has anyone come across this issue?
Thanks for any thoughts.

merlinofchaos commentedI have not run into anything like this.
You can start by manually truncating the contents of the views_object_cache table. Note that by doing this, you will lose any work 'in progress' on a view, so only do this when you don't have unsaved changes you care about. Clearing that table will clear any locks that may erroneously have been created.
Why this is happening, though, is a bit of a mystery to me.

pareen commentedEven I am facing the same issue. Is there a solution that exists? or is it being discussed in some other forum?

This message is different then the one I am referring to. The message that informs you that this view has been locked by $user->name for a certain amount of time, is different then getting the message "Changes cannot be made to a locked view" upon clicking the save button after making changes on an existing personalized view. There is no link option to unlock the view with this occurrence. Just wanted to clarify the distinction between these two alert messages.

Dreher commentedThis is probably an utterly stupid question but what is crom?
j3d commentedAre you currently logged in as the same user (admin) in more than one browser? Logging out of one fixed the problem for me.
Dreher commentedI had to log into admin from a different browser to see the option to unlock. I believe I used Firefox instead of IE. I am wondering if Crom mentioned above was supposed to be Google Chrome.

ronline commentedDELETE FROM `views_object_cache` WHERE name = "view_name"
fixed the problem for me.
jdench commentedThis worked for me too. I was having the problem with several views - by browsing through views_object_cache I could identify which views were cached and needed to be flushed out.

drupal10 commentedSame issue here. When I click and confirm to break the lock (I should mention that I am the use that has the view locked) it redirects to a page not found. Then when I go back to the view to edit it, it's still locked. This happens on both PC and Mac, in both IE, Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
Then if I edit the view anyhow (even though it says it cannot be saved since it's locked I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function validate() on a non-object in www/sites/all/modules/views/includes/admin.inc on line 910
So therefore the view cannot be edited at all until this is resolved. Please look into it asap.
Thanks so much!

merlinofchaos commented1) Please understand issue priorities when you use them.2
2) This issue is 1.5 years old. You shouldn't re-open it. You certainly aren't using version 6.x-2.3. You could consider opening a new issue.
Perhaps you thought you were being polite by putting 'please' and 'thanks', but this is open source. You are not a customer paying for a support contract. This ends up coming off as you giving us an order. You're welcome to look into the bug and see if you can help find a solution, but please do not simply come here, say a few words and order us to find a solution for you.
Returning this issue to previous status.

adnare commentedPlease check whether multiple users have been edited same page without save.
esmerel commentedPlease stop changing issues. If this is a problem in 7.x, open an new one and cross-reference, if you must.

hwi2 commentedI know this is late, but this happens to me when I have another Drupal admin modifying the same view. It looks like each view gets locked to one admin at a time. Tell the other admin to get out of the block ;) Works for me.
dsteplight commentedIf you look at the very top of the view page you should see a message that tells you which user is currently locked in the view. If you have proper permission you should be able to just kick that person out via a link at the top of the screen which will unblock the view for your use. This can easily happen if someone was working in a view on let's say production and then you pulled down the database and installed it locally then tried to edit the same view they were currently on. The bottle line is there are more than one hand in the cookie jar so Drupal is preventing each hand from taking a cookie:) . Kick the other person out and you will be good to go.

omzo commentedI resolved this issue by clicking on the following link above the view : "This view is being edited by user *****, and is therefore locked from editing by others. This lock is 16 heures 8 min old. Click here to break this lock."

dewolfe001 commentedMy workaround / procedure for clearing a lock:
- Clear your Cache
- Logout and back in (shouldn't have to, but I didn't get to the next step until I did).
- Look for the "clear this lock" phrase.
- Follow that link and then break the edit.
- It will likely reset all of the temporarily stored work carried out by the other user, so anything since the last save will need to be re-introduced.
