How can I replace swear words in forum posts with asterisks?

I'm putting together a forum that will be open to all ages, so I'd like to have the site automatically replace the characters in swear words with asterisks in the forum posts and comments that are submitted.

The only threads I've seen addressing this are these: http://drupal.org/node/23636 and http://drupal.org/node/44096 ... but no solution apparently was found.

Any thoughts?

there is a wordfilter.module you can investigate or you could write your own filter to do this.
