When a new user is registering on my site (www.vcommunity.org.uk), all newsletter subscription checkboxes are off by default.
(I understand that maybe they should be on by default - in which case, I may have inadvertently changed something in the code and would appreciate a pointer as to where to look)
My question is: Is it possible to provide the functionality per newsletter to decide what the default should be? So we can decide whether new users should have the checkboxes for certain newsletters on by default. They can still switch them off obviously but it is a simple way to make a suggestion as to which newsletters we think a new user should be subscribed to.

robert castelo commentedDo you mean the checkbox to subscribe to a newsletter or checkboxes to control content of the newsletter?
To subscribe to an email newsletter the user should tick the subscribe checkbox, if they don't explicitly give permision by ticking it themselves newsletter emails could be considered spam.

Patrick Nelson commentedRobert,
Yeah, I did mean the "subscribe to a newsletter checkbox".
I hadn't even thought of the spam issue - kinda too close to woods to see much of anything.
In which case, I'll close this issue and withdraw the requirement for this feature.
