hello, I have some general Drupal questions.

1) Are Drupal modules only available on this site or do they exist elsewhere?

2) Are all Drupal modules Free or do people sell modules?

3) will installation profiles allow me to copy my drupal site and install as template?

1. They can exist anywhere. Due to #2 they tend to be here.
2. They can be sold, but they must be gpl'd so anyone can then give it away.
3. Installation profiles are really designed to setup the structure of a site. Other technique can be used to populate a new site.

1) for the most part yes. There may be isolates modules made available on someone's private site, but the overwhelming majority are listed here.

2) d.o modules are free. People may charge for modules, but since they are subject to the GPL there wouldn't be much point in it-- the clients they sell them to are free to do whatever they want with them. See http://drupal.org/licensing/faq for more info.

3) i've not used them, but yes, that's my understanding.
