summit commentedOff course clicking could also go to the internal url when inserted instead of homepage of advertiser.
An option as inactive with url-fill in per advertisement should be great
Comment #2
jeremy commentedSo you are looking for a default URL for expired advertisements? Are you suggesting a single default for all advertisements, or a per-advertisement setting?
To explain this better, let's take example advertisement Foo that links to http://sample.com/foo, and example advertisement Bar that links to http://sample.com/bar. What are you suggesting should happen when each of these advertisements expires?
summit commentedHi Jeremy,
Yes: if Foo expires, it should link to http://sample.com/foo and if Bar expires, then it should link to http://sample.com/bar.
So every advertisement has his own backup url, when the advertisement expires or is closed.
Thanks for having a better way to make it clear.
Thanks a lot for considering this!
Greetings,
Martijn

jeremy commentedI am confused. I was saying that the normal redirect destination for Foo was http://sample.com/foo, you are saying that this is what it should redirect to after the advertisement expires. I do not understand yet what your goal is. Please include a complete configuration example with two advertisements, including the domain of your sample website (ie sample.com), the destination for your advertisements when enabled and clicked, and the destinations when clicked after they expire.
Why would people click ads after they expire? They should no longer be displayed. Or are you referring to when they are viewed as a node? I am still quite confused about your goal here.

summit commentedHi Jeremy,
Yes I refer to when they are viewed as a node. Sorry about the confusion. I will explain.
I want to keep the content of the node but not directing to a not valid url anymore.
So normally
* the advert Foo, goes to www.advertiser.com/adversitement_foo, but when the advertisement is closed I want to redirect the advertisement to www.example.com/Foo or another url
* the advert Bar, goes to www.advertiser.com/advertisement_bar, but wgen the advertisement is closed I want to redirect the advertisement to www.example.com/Bar or another url.
I do not want to NOT show the content anymore, because it will be advertiser independent.
Is this more clearer please Jeremy?
Greetings,
Martijn
Comment #6
jeremy commentedSo you want the ability to define two destination URLs per advertisement? This first to be used before the advertisement expires, and the second after the advertisement expires?
summit commentedYes, thats correct, when the advertisement is expired, it should go to the secondary url. So the content doesn't go to 404 or completely off topic webpage.
jeremy commentedOkay. I guess I understand what you're asking, but I'm not sure that I see a big need for this. Perhaps I could understand a global default for expired advertisements, but a per-advertisement configuration seems a bit, excessive.
I'll mull it over a little longer. But for now, I'm marking it as postponed -- patches are welcome, as are suggestions on how to implement this in a non-intrusive way.

lrwebks commentedDrupal 6 is EOL and no longer supported. Closing this as outdated for that reason. Thanks for your contribution!
