I created a custom content type called Manufacturer, which displays as the following:

http://cardealscanada.tp2p.com/bmw

Is there any way I can modify the format of this content type? The default isn't quite what I'd like; for example I think I want to place the URL on the same line as the title.

Thanks

you will have to make a custom-NODETYPE.tpl.php file and arrange as you see fit.

There are some tools to help with this

The devel.module & the contemplate.module. Both of which expose what is available at any given time. What you are doing is themeing and the theme developers guide in the documentation area for your version of drupal-- as well as the plethora of video casts and tutorials found on google will help a great deal.

Oh so I need access to the server's file system to create a custom PHP file? Thanks. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to get access.

I'll do some reading based on your recommendation for sure.

Thanks

you don't have access to where your drupal installation is uploaded to the server ? This seems very odd. How will you upload other modules or other themes?

You should certainly have access to your account on a server. Where you can manipulate files, check the folder structure and the like.

you can work on tpl.php files on your local machine but in the end your drupal installation needs them in your theme folder so that drupal can use it.

I'm using http://freedrupal5hosting.com, so basically they pre-install numerous modules and themes and don't give SSH or telnet access.

and not FTP?

if you don't have access to the server itself at any level, themeing drupal is virtually impossible as you won't be able to adjust CSS or HTML in the theme.

VeryMisunderstood is absolutely right. For theming or adding any modules, you do need FTP access. Once you have the FTP access then there are limitless theming options available to you.

If you want to play with drupal, why don't you try installing drupal on local machine. Or try some other free hosts. Try googling "free hosting ftp mysql php" and you will get many options to try.

Get back here when you have FTP access and you will get great help from this community.
