How to get thumbnails of different sizes of external images to show on a custom block?

Hi,

I am using EMFIELD module to import audio,video,images. For images I need to create a custom block on see-all-images page in this bloack I need to show small thumbnail of the external image. is there any way to get the thumbnail of external images in different sizes? for example if I require thumbnails of 114X114 and 54X54 now is it possible to get the thumbnail of the mentioned dimension so that I could display the images in my custom block??

On the node-view page the External image is being show correctly i.e. when i write $node->view it prints the external image but is there a way to get the thumbnail of desired size for a block or for any other page??

Any information in this regard will really help me out.
