FIXED! JUST ENABLING CLEAN URLS FINALLY MADE IT WORK!

I've been trying for several days to get imagecache to work, and I can't get it to work at all. I've tried Beta4, Beta6, and Beta8. I've tried on a wampserver test environment and on a live site. I've tried creating the folders its supposed to create automatically, manually. I've tried changing the file system from public to private, and I've changed it's location. I made sure to install imageapi beforehand.

No matter what I do, I can't even fix the broken image preview. I don't know how else I can do what I want with my site without imagecache functioning, and I've hit a brick wall.

Anyone have any ideas?
