I am very eager to use this module. I note it is beta and I need it on a live site.

Is there anyway I can help to look forward to the next release or is a new release even needed?

My experience with the module is that it's mostly pretty robust. It never got a full release because the intended Drupal 5 Amazon Associates Tools conversion never got finished. IMO, you can use it with confidence.
