Delete old nodes

I searched the forums and tried with google, but could not find a definitive answer for this newbie question:

Is there a module or recommended code snippet to automatically check for and delete old nodes (by last update date, not using revisions) on cron run?

Even if it requires a user with admin rights to be logged in, it would be very useful.

Otherwise, if there is a way to extend the administer content page (content/node/overview) to filter or sort by update date, this action could also be much easier.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
