Drupal vB and vBulletin - How are User Profiles Handled
brainfood - March 24, 2009 - 15:59
I am setting up vBulletin for my forums and using drupal for my custom pages that VB will not support. I am wanting to have a single login for both and have found a resource that does this Drupal vB http://drupal.org/project/drupalvb.
I am curious if onyone has used this before? How are the profile fields handled in vBulletin and Drupal if this is installed? Does the user have the ability to modify their profiles seperately? Are the profiles fields some how integrated and updated together when a change is made in one profile?
Thanks

Its really not complete
It sort of works ... but the logins are not smooth.
So you are saying... DrupalVB
So you are saying... DrupalVB does not work that well?
I am trying to figure out if I should use Vbulleting (that I paid for). However I will only use it if it integrates with Drupal.
Messed Around With Forum Bridges, Not Worth The Hassle
I messed around with SMF, PHPBB, IPB etc forum integrations for a while and they were all a pain and a bit flaky. By that time Michelle's Advanced Forums really matured.

I've still got a license for IPB Forums "Community" but don't use it at all any longer. The only way I would think about using these bridges is if I had a long established large forum that a conversion to Drupal forums wouldn't work. I've added modules like privatemsg, Forum Access, Quotes, etc. etc. and I'm very happy with the results. Here's my Drupal Forum using Advanced Forum

I recommend not even messing with the bridges to other forum scripts and just stick with a native Drupal environment, you can really establish nice little Social Site.
Cheers
BTW Mollom is the best anti-spam solution I've ever run across and of course it's native Drupal ;)
vBulletin migration or integration
There is now a Drupal handbook page on vBulletin migration and integration options:
