I would like to see support to unzip files. This would need to support directory creation also. I could see this module being a dependency of modules that use zip/unzip functionality.

i dont plan to build a module to extract zip content for the moment
the module can be used as a dependecy to build one to extract
the goal of this module is not to zip/unzip, it is just to handle the library and create the main object, then the other modules can re-use this object

Hi, this won't get into the module as ssm2017 Binder (the maintainer already mentioned). If necessary, you could post a feature request over at http://drupal.org/project/download.
