Upcoming Event countdown for all-day events

For an event that has no time associated with it (an all-day event), the Upcoming Event block countdown appears to aim at the node creation time instead of 12am, as could be reasonably expected. The effect is that, in the middle of the day that the event is scheduled, the block still displays a countdown toward some phantom time target.

Is there a fix/workaround for this behavior?
