Only displaying quote on homepage

I can display the block only on node/1 but that only works if someone goes somewhere else on the site and clicks on the home button. Is there any way to make it show up on the home page right away and all of the time?

Try using
<front>in the visibility settings rather than 'node/1' -- there is a difference to Drupal. Also make sure your site information page is correctly set to just 'node'.#2
