Upgraded from beta1 to beta3 and the file title for filefields when displayed as "Generic files" now shows just 'a' linked to the file (paths-to-file and url-to-file are fine) in a Views2 view. Attaching screenshot.

"Generic files" display is correct in teaser view (second screenshot) as on a taxonomy page.

This is the same problem as #299329: No display of alt or title with images - Simple Workaround. It's already been fixed in CVS and will be in the next version.
