Converted Database tables & columns to UTF8 Unicode - Now Nodes won't update upon save using WYSIWYG & TinyMCE

Site was working fine.
WYSIWYG 6-1.1 with Tiny MCE 2.6.2 was working fine.

Then I went through the database and changed collations from UTF8-General to UTF8-Unicode because users weren't able to enter German characters.

Now when I make edits to a node with Rich Text enabled the updates are not saved and the node appears exactly as it did before the update.

If I make edits with Rich-Text disabled the updates are saved and the node is updated.

Any suggestions?
