The Migrate module, which you've just posted into, is for users who are wanting to migrate content from a legacy website into a new Drupal site. What you're talking about is just moving your Drupal site from one computer to another. This is probably a question that would be better asked in the regular forums, but I'll do my best to answer it here.
Yes, you can move your site from your localhost to your server. You'll basically need to export your drupal database and your drupal files from your Mac onto your server. I've done this myself on a number of different sites. Other questions like this might belong in the "post installation" forum at http://drupal.org/forum/22. I hope this helps.

lisasacco commentedDear attheshow,
Thanks for your quick response. I am a newbie and have no previous HTML/"code writing" experience. I am a graphic designer trying to learn how to use drupal. I have purchased two handbooks and cannot find documentation in them about this issue. I am looking for a step by step guide on how to move the site I have developed so far from my mac onto a mac laptop. I do not want to jeopardize the site I have built so far and am wondering if I can repeat the process multiple times (develop on mac, move to laptop). One note, I have already installed and begun to develop a site on the laptop, too. Will this interfere with the one I am going to load onto the laptop? Can I have multiple sites running on on machine/server? How does this effect the development process? Do I need to have different URL addresses? I am so inexperienced at HTML/code lingo that I feel I may be in over my head! Sorry for so many questions. If you cannot answer, perhaps point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. Lisa
