Issue Summary
I tried to convert http://drupal.org/project/postalso
Its an apparently smooth conversion process and the converted module shows up in the permission area as well as help file but the actual module administration and the user part is missing.
What possibly could have gone wrong / what further things can be done ?

After running Deadwood, I did the following (per the comments added to the file by Deadwood):
I left for you to fix postalso_node_form_submit so it extracts needed variables and does its work.
Let me know if this works.

Thanks a lot - that is a lot of hand-holding indeed. And many thanks.
I am sorry that I tried but must be something going wrong somewhere I cannot
get to work this in Drupal 6.
Any one else having some more spare time and some more coding experience
can possibly help :)
I requested the maintainers also to make a port to 6 but that seems to be
deadwood too with no sign of goodwood so far ....

Did you make any further changes to the file I posted?
Is it worth it to you (or others) to pay to have the module port completed?
Let me know. You can send me an email from my contact page.

Hi Thanks again.
Yes I made some changes but obviously I have not been doing the right thing.
There is one new maintainer of the module and I am not sure whether or when
this module will be ported to Drupal6
Regarding paid options to port it depends on the price :) ( or easier if some amazon wishlist can be fulfilled as it appears it is not a big chunk of stuff )

How about we start with a straight port -- no new features? Get it running in D6. Then you and others can decide on the amazon wishlist. This should not involve much time. What is that worth to you?

Yes, straight port is most welcome. If that is done, it will immensely benefit all - issue was opened in this respect - http://drupal.org/project/issues/postalso, but probably the maintainer is not there any more.
If you can take up the maintainership or just attach an working file that works in D6 people will be grateful ... I, on my part, can surely fill up an amazon wish of yours :) ...
