Is it possible to keep the subdomain in the url for pages like /node/add/page
domain.com/node/add/page
sub.domain.com/node/add/page

Absolutely possible but would take some thought and work. Unfortunately, I'm swamped at the moment.
Patches are always welcome. Or if you'd like to sponsor development of that, let me know.
