Description

This module sounds like a good one... my site is just about to go active, so I am wondering if i should try getting the 6.x(dev) up and running beforehand, or should I wait until a release?

How ready is the dev? Hasn't been a new release in a couple months i don't believe... and i'm not seeing a LOT of issues... but just thought i would ask about it first.

Thanks

I would say its about 98% ready.

When these two issues are fixed, then I can say a stable release for Drupal 6.x can be made.

First issue: #391774: Patch for Job Search 6.x-1.x-dev - User profile updates and Views 2 integration

Second issue: I tested the 6.x dev on a drupal 6 install. Everything seems to work. The only case scenario I did not test was to see if the employer receives an email once a jobseeker has applied to the employer's job. Can someone test this?

If Views is not a major thing for you, I would say go ahead and use the 6 dev version and report any issues please (but don't blame me if something goes wrong, its a dev version after all). I suspect only bug fixes (and drupal 5 port changes) will go into the 6 dev version for now. New features may go in, but not until a stable release is made.

Sounds good, thank you for the response.

I just took my site online about a week ago, and am pretty heavy in Views... so I think what I am going to do is wait until the first issue and patch is implemented, and then I will be happy to install and test for issues.

Thanks again

I've just installed it on Acquia Drupal 6.10 and all basic functionality seems to work fine. This module is the last piece in the puzzle for me so if we can get the views integration done soon I'll shave the Drupal logo into the back of my head.

Not sure if someone has confirmed this already, but I just confirmed that the employer does receive the email when someone applies for the job that they posted.

I have installed module with patch from http://drupal.org/node/391774 thread. I am not sure if this patched version was incorporated into latest downloaded version but there appears to be some issues remaining:

I see 3 "application" oriented views in views 2, but no views that display my job postings.

I created a CCK form linked to Job with a handful of selections to facilitate structured search, and location module fields, but none of them seem to be available in views when I create a view using "Job" node type. Node title and body are not even available fieldsets in Views 2. When I select Job node type for a new view, only NID, and job status fields appear available for creating a view. Does anyone know why my other CCK fields, not to mention title and body are not available in Views 2?

UPDATE: Nevermind, I meant to say that I was selecting Job "View Type" above. I just selected the Node view type, then my content type linked to Job and Views is working fine in dev mode so far. I'll update once I get a view up and running to see if entire process works. Sorry for the noise, but I'll post an update once I complete dev/test.

With the Views integration in the patch, you can join in User and Node to get detailed info related to a Job or Job Applicant.

Regarding Issue 2, Employer is getting an e-mail when any job seeker applies for the job.
The e-mail details are as follows :
"
The following user has applied for the above job.

Job: job title
Job URL:
Applicant name: userid
Applicant email: user's email address
Applicant URL: user's profile link
Resume: title of resume job seeker has created
Resume URL: url of resume job seeker has created
"
So I guess Issue 2 is already solved. I have yet to test Issue 1.

So I'm guessing the 6.x version is ready at least for a beta version, or even a RC?

And then on the road for 7.x version! :D

Hi,

I am interested in subscribing to this module, but I am new ti Drupal, and I am not sure how to do that.

Just saying 'Subscribing'? Or there is a button to do so?

Thanks

Hi c9,
Yes, saying anything in a thread adds it to your threads that your account tracks. (Use the side link titled "My Account" and then click the tab marked "Track".)
Hope that helps. :)

The current 6.x-1.x-dev release is stable enough for use on live sites. I know a few that are already using it.

Yes. That's right.
I have already developed one job portal using this module and now moving ahead with developing a network of job portal sites across the world. I am using this module extensively and haven't found any bug/problem till now.
Recommended to use on live sites.
