Pathauto Creates "pathauto/xxx/xxx" Paths

Some url aliases are created by pathauto.module to have aliases like:

pathauto/blog/etc

Which then screws up a lot of aliases on the site especially root paths like:

www.example.com/blog

and replaces it with:

www.example.com/pathauto/blog
