I install image package. I go to admin modules page. I check enable image (nothing else)
I get a server error page, which means there is a php error somewhere.
I remove all image contrib
same problem
I remove image directory
problem is gone

sunWe need the actual PHP error message. You can find it either in Drupal's "Recent log entries" or in your web server log. See also http://drupal.org/node/158043 for further information.

qmaria commentedthank you. When I increased memory to 32, the problem went away.
