Does anyone know why I get this error when using the above module?

fsockopen(): unable to connect to slashdot.org:80 in c:\program files\easyphp1-8\www\drupal-4.6.3\includes\common.inc on line 268.

My issue was that my web host blocks outbound port 80 traffic. Resolved by asking for a specific site to be unblocked. This will be an issue for trackbacks.
