will be here support for comments for galleries and images? I know that it is hard/impossible for cck images, so I am afraid that it will be not...
(maybe for galleries only, I found that you wrote that each gallery is node, so it can be solution for gallery comments...)

Allow comments on the supplied content types and you have comments on images and on galleries - it does it right out of the box. =)
