Just a few questions to see if Drupal is right for me or not.

Hey everyone. Absolutely new to Drupal here. I'm starting a new website for a tattoo shop here in San Diego, and I'm looking for a good platform to begin on. I'll be doing a lot of custom Java and PHP work, but there are some thing I'd like to know whether or not they're possible with Drupal.

We have multiple artists at our shops. Essentially I'd like each artist to have their own pages, where they can blog on about stuff, and post images (I'll be writing a gallery / slide show generator for that). So I guess, my question quite simply, is can I accomplish this idea with Drupal? Individual blogs (they'll retain the same style as the rest of the website)? I'll be writing a little mood thing, gallery scripts etc.. on my own.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if I'm not clear. Sometimes it's not always easy to get an idea out in a simple fashion ><.

Yes, this can be easily done with drupal. Also, before you waste too much time writing scripts you might want to check some of the 4400+ modules for existing fuctionality. ;-)

Drupal can certainly help you there. I'd recommend looking at the following modules:

http://drupal.org/project/slideshow_creator
http://drupal.org/project/gallery
http://drupal.org/project/wysiwyg

Taxonomy is also a good way to sort different artists into different categories (e.g. abstract art, portrait painting, landscapes, etc.)

Hope that helps!

All the best,

Martin
