I need help on creating a module that allows site admin to create class schedule/timetable.
Background:
Client runs a tuition center that conducts classes that have multiple lessons in a period of time, i.e. each class consists of 10-24 lessons, may or may not repeat on same days/time every week (therefore Event repeat is not quite applicable here.) I need a module created to allow clients create new class info and related lesson timetable.
Here's the desired workflow:
1. Admin create a new content:
Content type: Class
Title: {codename of the class, e.g. GMAT, Jun 2009 intake}
Overview: {textarea}
Lessons: {this should be multiple-value filed that consists of short description and date+time selection}
2. The output of content is straightforward, except there should be an iCal link to allow users to import the lesson dates to their calendar (Google Calendar, Apple iCal, etc)
3. Other requirements include listing classes according to terms (each class is classified under a subject, and there are only 5-6 subjects)
I can send you wireframes if you are keen to explore further. Then I need your estimate and turnaround time. Rest assured your time will be compensated fairly. Looking forward to your response.
Update:
In view of the good response I'm receiving, I thought I could make it easier for all by including the link to download the wireframes. I encourage you to take a look at the wireframes and decide if you can take it up before contacting me. Questions are welcome!

Update 2:
I have found the taker for this job, I will close the offer until I see the need to open it again.

Try CiviCRM?
Have you looked at using CiviCRM (specifically the CiviEvent module of CiviCRM) for this? It should be able to do most of your spec/requirements; and it integrates nicely with Drupal.
Might save you a lot of time vs. having to code/program up a new module.

Hello backdrifting, thanks
Hello backdrifting, thanks for the suggestion. I have already checked out all event-related modules I could find to make it work but without much luck.
Anyway I have found someone who offered to do the job, hope to see a working module soon.
Great ...
Sounds good.

Outcome
I feel delighted to update on the outcome of this bounty.
The person who eventually helped me got the job done is Radek. He has not only delivered the module exactly how I wanted it (even beyond expectation), he'd delivered it on time too! I strongly recommend this five-star Drupal developer! :)
Contribute back to drupal.org?
Are you planning to contribute the module code back to the drupal.org community?
-backdrifting
The short answer is YES
We just need to refine the module to make it more customizable and suitable use by public. And I like to see a show of hands of how many of you out there might be interested in this module?
I would be
VERY interested
I work at university and would need to do a quarterly timetable.
When do you think it will be ready?
Thanks,

Please release the module, I'd really like to have a module like that :) Thanks

Hi,
I'd like very much to try this module when it is released. I'm busy building a system for our school and am looking for a nice timetable. Next step would be the possibility to take attendance.
Check out the work i've done with CiviCRM and Drupal ..

Any update on release of this module?
Great to see this module been put out there - sure that the educational users among drupal community are dying to see this release. Any update on when it might be available to the public?

Whoa! After two years, as I re-visited this post again and I'm surprised to see so many people are interested in this! More surprisingly, no one has come up with a similar solution still.
I'm actually more than happy to give it back to the community. Problem is: how do I do that?
I haven't created a project in Drupal.org, much less any experience in maintaining it. Should I release it, I may not be able to offer much help in terms of customizing/support. I do not want to trouble the developer who created it either.
Nevertheless, appreciate if someone can show me the way to make the module available to all.
Edit: Forgot to include a link in case you are interested to see it in action:
http://deanloh.info/class (I had to use a URL shortener as I do not wish my client to see it's website being referred from here)
Thank you for your
Thank you for your willingness to contribute back to the Drupal project!!!
I would strongly encourage you to find a developer who can help maintain the module; other users are bound to submit patches and feature requests, which the module maintainer(s) is responsible for moderating and committing. If you're interested in this, I would suggest posting in the Module Development and Code Questions forum and seeing if there are any developers interested in maintaining your module.
See this page for details and instructions on how to contribute modules to Drupal. I have heard from others this can be a sometimes lengthy and disheartening process, which is another reason why you may want to consider finding a developer who can help.

Hi Robert, We're currently
Hi Robert,
We're currently looking at building something like this. We're a Drupal development house so we release our modules and maintain them. Would it be possible to get a copy of the code you're currently using so that we can assess whether it's worth upgrading it to D7 or starting from scratch? If we do use your code as a base we will release it on drupal.org as a module for you.
Thanks,
John

Excited to hear your module
Excited to hear your module will be shared with the Drupal community!
Is there a place where we may download it before it is added to the Drupal project page?
Thanks again!!

If you send me the code or tell me where I can download is, I am willing to work on it to make it a real module.
