What does this do? Actually, how do you use it? The description appears to be what I want, however it doesn't seem to do anything. I attempt to restrict a menu item to not be viewable by a certain role, but they can still see it. Is this supposed to restrict access? Is there a manual?

Hello,
The module integrates with menu access to hide listing to users based on the role and the permissions assigned to the role. It is a combination of module permissions and view access rights for each menu item in the navigation menu.

1) Setup limited access roles and assign permissions
For example, setup an author role and only give the role the ability to add pages.

2) Go to every single menu item in the navigation menu and set permissions to restrict user "view" access to items that users with the author role should not see when logged in.

To be honest I would leave the default settings for menu items and allow users access to all menu items by default. The setup defines exceptions for access in the navigation menu, in most cases you won't change the "view" access rights often so this step shouldn't be avoided.

3) Create an account and assign the role.

It should be as simple as that.

Please post any issues that occur when attempting to use the module.

Also if you are trying to review the security modules while logged in as user 1 (super user) then you will see nothing. As the Drupal super user always has access to everything.
