I am under the assumption that a fluid width theme would be ideal since it will work on majority of monitor sizes. Well, after browsing tons of Drupal sites, it seems like the majority have gone with a fixed width theme. What are the pros and cons of using one vs the other?
Thanks

Fluid themes have much to offer but I find with modern wide screen monitors you can loose control of how you site looks as short articles can end up only filling a few lines on a wide monitor.

of course this is a major design discussion which is in no way specific to Drupal (and has the potential for some flames), but IMHO fluid layouts are "superior" (if unquestionably more difficult) because they keep more freedom/control in the hands of the site users. designers traditionally fight hard to use fixed layouts since it lets them keep that control for themselves.
