I'm wondering if anyone else has used Drupal for registration of a conference or another event where nametags were printed from the user information. For an upcoming student conference we are using the export module (http://drupal.org/node/29836) and are pulling photos from the webserver based on their ID. The issue is with printing the photos, as the default profile photo (128x128 @ 72 dpi) is very low quality.
We are currently showing the profile pictures in posts made by users, but if we increase the photo size to allow for better quality printing it will eat up too much screen space. Ideally people would be able to upload a large image, and a thumbnail would be used to accompany their posts. When users upload an image which is to large it is automatically scaled, can these originals be kept on the webserver? Otherwise how would you recommend dealing with this issue?
