class in a href

My theme uses border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; for links instead of standard underlines and the addthis img is not responding to styling the .addthis a:link to border-bottom: none; I have tried selecting the <a href> several ways and it does not remove the underline. I think the classless span in between is confusing the browser. Could you put a class in the <a href> surrounding the addthis img such as, class="addthislink" for instance?
