Issue Summary

Hi,

I use Cooliris plugin for Firefox all the time! In fact I see it as the ONLY way to view pictures in Firefox and am often disappointed if a site is not Cooliris enabled.

Is this abandoned simply because it is so easy to enable this and there is no need for this module or does everyone just really not realize the awesome power of Cooliris?

I am going to be building my first Drupal site soon (after done with Using Drupal) and it will have many galleries. would be wonderful if it was Cooliris enabled!

Thanks!

Rsvelko - That is too cool! Thanks for picking this module up! Can't wait to implement it!

#4

In about 7 days I plan to move a couple of the most important issues forward. I have some exams tomorrow... Stay tuned.

Hey rsvelko - did you make any headway on this module? I have a need to use it now, with imagefield/imagecache and views3. I'd like to not duplicate efforts. The last commit was more than a year ago so I am wondering if you had anything that might not have been committed yet. Please let me know. Thanks.

Searched through my code repos - sadly nothing. The boost, drush and about 10-20 more modules have eaten up this module's time ... + my language lessons + my work ... I know how it is these days..

Do you want me to grant you CVS commit access? We can do this together in a team. Let's hope that you will make me work more for this module...

Thanks for the reply and I am happy to help work on it. I need to request a cvs account first since all of my previous contributions have been via patches in the issue queue or my own offline modules.

I plan to use it on a site with a few hundred thousand imagecache photos. My goal is to take a node view (output by views3) and publish the results correctly in the media RSS format so Cooliris can pick it up and do the 3D thing. It may be 2-3 weeks until I get to it as I am finalizing all of my content imports using Feeds. These efforts are for my own soon-to-be large Drupal site, so I'm also not going to lose interest in this since it isn't paid work for a client. It will be an important feature of my site.

FYI, I approved rjbrown99's application, and granted him access to this project CVS.

Thanks, looks like I am good to go. I thought I'd share a few goals/thoughts:

1) My first initiative is to understand the code. To that end, I'll post any thoughts back to the issue queue and perhaps to README if it makes sense. I am especially curious about the feature list on the module page stating that imagecache works, but only with 5.x.

2) I have zero interest in anything 5.x. I'm not going to spend any time looking at it or working with it unless someone submits a patch that is RTBC by others.

3) I have zero interest in support for the image module, but it is a requirement for my project that this supports imagefield/imagecache. It looks like imagecache support for views exists in the 5.x branch so there is a starting point.

4) I'll start creating tickets for stuff that needs to be done.

5) Should we or could we rename this cooliris? I have also sent an e-mail to their company about what we are doing. At the very least, I'd like to have their blessing for us to use their name as I am sure they own the trademark "Cooliris".

Hmm, this is interesting:
http://drupal.org/project/mediarss

Seems very similar in nature to this module and it does have imagecache support in 6.x. Perhaps we want to try to merge these projects if they have the same scope?

#11

Also, how do we feel about rolling that last -dev release as 6.x-1.5 to start getting some usage on that version?

#12

1. about the project name change - I've done this before - after approval from the Cooliris folks - we will create a cooliris project on d.o. and copy the module code there. We will simply write on the project pages that there has been a move. Currently the title of the project page contains Cooliris and so googlers find us ok. It is drushers and similar that hate it when it says Cooliris and in actuality it is piclens...

2. About mediarss - will look into that - I like the way you think - just like me

3. I have to read the diffs betw. dev and last stable - I do not have enough info if tagging the dev is good.

The cooliris folks replied, said they are huge fans of Drupal and the community, and asked to set up a quick phone call. I'll give them a call this week to talk about it. I'm thinking they will be OK with the name, and perhaps they want to contribute some code or documentation. It was a very positive reply to my e-mail.

This is great to see this pick up steam! Good job gang.

#15

Just wanted to say I'm very excited about the (hopefully) upcoming imagefield support, that's exactly what I need.

Good job, thank you :)

Guys

No postings for 12 months...

also I think the Piclens/Cooliris stuff is brilliant...

however... is ther a Drupal 7 version...

#17

#18

I asked for a drupal 7 version..... NOT 6

#19

There is zero activity with this module so unless you write one for 7 NOT 6 then it's not going to be done. I pointed you to the active module that seems to have some good support and an issue in the queue for a D7 port.
