I just found out about Drupal. And I am currently converting (or want to convert) an existing chamber of commerce website to a CMS that can do what they are currently using two systems for. They use Expression Engine for the basic content and they pay a company called Memberize for all their members and event organization..
I was looking into a CMS that would allow me to use the features of memberize (members, billing, events, member detailed data, calendar, basic info) with the basic CMS of EE all in one. Is Drupal good for that?

yes....
Drupal.org is best example for you. For billing and other stuff you can look at Ubercart (module for Drupal).

As the poster already has said, yes drupal can handle this no problem. For some good examples of drupal sites see http://drupal.or/cases and http://buytaert.net/tag/drupal-sites.
Ubercart is one option for ecommerce/billing. Another is the ecommerce module. Also, if you just need paypal integration, the http://drupal.org/project/lm_paypal is much simpler than either of those.
Consider CiviCRM
I realise this reply is probably way too late to be of any use to the original poster, but you should look at CiviCRM to provide the features in Memberize including online billing and events (including payment for events).
I provide Drupal, Drupal Commerce and CiviCRM development services for customers in New Zealand and beyond
