Autocomplete field for taxonomy selection without free-tagging

Hi,

Is it possible to have an auto complete field for the taxonomy selection without activating free-tagging?
Can you add an auto complete widget instead of the normal taxonomy selection list?

I have a very large taxonomy and it takes 30 seconds each time that I create a new node and some modules are not compatibles with free-tagging.
