If I set another language, instead of English , as the 'default'.
Then the 'Language switcher' doesn't work. whatever language I click, it will always be the default language.

Why?

Also might be worth looking at:

/admin/settings/language/configure

I have set mine to "Path prefix with language fallback.".

Also if you have the Language icons module enabled, check the settings are configured as you want them.
