I am looking for a way to change parameters "on the fly", so that I can instruct ddblock to change speed or timeout for different page load conditions, etc.
Can ddblock do that?

ppblaauw commentedIf you want to change jQuery cycle plugin settings on the fly you need to:
You can set effects per slide in the Custom jQuery Cycle Plugin Settings.
With the jQuery cycle plugin you can also set different timeout settings (not implemented in ddblock).
Can you be more specific what features you are looking for and please ask for one feature per issue so the issues are more easily to manage (statuses and comments for different features will not get mixed up).

nstrassner commentedHere is what I am up against: I have a ddblock dissolving 9 images for 6 seconds each. But I want to play a medium quality flash movie when the page loads, which is played via some PHP code. I have noticed that on many machines, the flash stutters badly for awhile (varies), and I believe that the cause is ddblock loading and taking up considerable CPU time. If I can initially pause the ddblock for the period of time it takes for the short movie to finish, I may be able to eliminate the problem.
The web page is at www.flashback.tv, but I have disabled the video for now until I can fix the problem.
Thanks for your help.
BTW, you say that I can:
Stop the slideshow, Apply new settings, Start the slideshow again.
I may have missed where the instructions are to do this.

ppblaauw commentedYou can set the following in the Custom jQuery Cycle Plugin Settings to delay the first transition to happen.
The value is in milliseconds, so this would delay the first transition of the slideshow 10 seconds.
The Stop the slideshow, Apply new settings, Start the slideshow again options are not implemented in the dynamic display block module. (I only wanted to inform you what would need to be done to set settings on the fly.)
Hope this helps you further, please let me know.

nstrassner commentedThanks much, I'll give that a try.
Over the weekend, I also was messing around with onload situations, basically giving the page the time to load up before the flash movie plays, and that may be another solution.
