We need to reconcile differences in information architecture/sitemap between the existing drupal.org and the Mark Boulton prototypes in order to relaunch. The best way to do this would be graphically.
Someone needs to create a sitemap (omnigraffle) of the two sites, going at least three layers deep, and post them to be reviewed.
This issue came up when we realized that the new site treats "News" as its own type of content, but currently Drupal just has a "News and Announcements" forum.

gábor hojtsyNews already has its own listing and filtering and such. The new site will need to be able to distinguish between same content type with different taxonomy. Like the new search has a "Modules and themes" search, while these are just the same node type (project) with different taxonomies. And they are distinguished from Install profiles and translations which are also of the same content type but with different taxonomy. The site upgrade also started to use forums again for security announcements too (just like news).

lisarex commentedNews will be planet.drupal.org
Moving issue to the Redesign project. Check to see who has been assigned to implement this section and the staging server it'll live on during implementation here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/37064

I can't see us doing any more on this now, so we should close this.
