Is there a possibility of adding integration to Ubercart's shopping cart feature? Or would that be a mess?

The Amazon API has the cart actually stored in their world. It's possible that one could rework the whole thing and have the cart managed locally (on the drupal site) but I think that would be a violation of Amazon's terms.

In short: I don't think it's happening.

just a thought .... you could create a hybrid store, so you could sell products and extend the category with amazon's products. might be able to just do that with amazon module but you wouldn't be able to share items from each system in a single cart.
