I've tried searching for help but could not find anything to solve this issue for me. I saw a patch for D7 but I'm running D6.
When I update the description field under the content types menu, they do not update on the create content page (they remain the default descriptions). I have created new Content Types and those descriptions I put in transferred over ok, but not if I try to change any of the default ones (ie: Blog, Even, Weblink, etc)
I do not have any caching enabled.
Can you help?

Having The Same Problem
I am having the same problem, so I will be interested to find out an answer?
I figured this out... Go to
I figured this out...
Go to Administer>Menus>Navigation
Find the content-type there and click edit. This brings you to a new place to edit the content that shows up on the "Create Content" page of the site.
I can't tell you how many hours I wasted trying to figure this out!
Thank you for the follow up
That was painfully simple.... and just another reason there should be a beginners book for drupal.
I have wasted more time trying to figure out simple items like this.
Thanks so much for this
Thanks so much for this information. I have spent hours trying to figure this out.
just delete them...
it seems that if you just delete the descriptions under Administer->Site Building->Menus->Navigation->edit , then the regular fields fields display on the Create Content Type page like you would expect... annoying

Glad I found your comment. I started searching for an answer when I noticed this on my site today. :)
It's not very intuitive, that's for sure, and it creates more work for us instead of the description always being... the description.
shouldn't this be reported as a bug?
True, but then you are no longer able to set the title attribute of the menu entry. The description of the menu entry should definitely not override the description of the content type...
