Use Drupal for an Automotive Dealer

A friend is looking to use Drupal to design a site for his car dealership. He hopes to link it to ebay motors, and use his inventory content like http://www.carad.com/.

I'm sure this is possible, but is it practical?

Depends

What sort of "practical" are we talking about here? If we're talking about displaying his stock and providing links to eBay Motors entries, sure. If we're talking about a system for buyers and dealers to log in, that's doable too, but won't be a trivial effort.

In short, the answer all depends on the scope and business plan your friend has in mind. From a software point of view, Drupal should be able to handle it; I'd be more concerned that the server configuration is up-to-snuff more than anything else.

Having gone through several iterations of the let's-develop-a-corporate-site game, I'll just end by saying it's hard to give a concrete answer without knowing more details of what your friend is proposing. This isn't a personal blog we're talking about here, after all...

Thanks, he just wants to use it to provide links to ebay. We'll give it a shot and see what happens...I'll post the final look when we get it done.
