Make "recommended" in "engine" red, as it's important setting at theme .info documentation page.

I've caught myself on omitting engine=something in .info file and wasted quite a lot time finding the problem. It would save other people lots of trouble if it was emphasized.

PS: Do you think it's good idea to file request for changing defaults to "phptemplate" in 7.x?

For the engine item I've changed "recommended" to "required in most cases" which seems more in line with the description.

Also in the list at the top, I've changed the cryptic flags (! and *) to a more explicit "required" and "recommended".
