I just noticed this project today and thought that perhaps there would be a way to collaborate with the existing languageicons project.

It may require a new API for the languageicons project, but the maintainer is quite actively developing the module and would likely be willing to do that.

The difference is that Language Icons provides icons tied to a particular language/language code and is closely tied in with features of a multilingual site. However, my project, ip2cc has nothing todo with multilingual sites, but does require country flags, which have nothing to do with the language a country speaks. eg. England and Ireland both speak English, but they have their own Country flags. I want a flag for every single country in the official ISO list, and an API to look them up.

Other modules authors/themers may want to present lists of countries using the countries_api module (another of mine), and have country flags displayed alongside, for example.
