I have an important need to set a fixed input format for a role to prevent comments from being used to publish external links to a wiki page. We've seen an increase in this activity and I want to put a stop to it. Being able to fix an input type for the comment would be of great help. I don't want to have to monitor all posts/comments as most are valid for the site. Until then I don't know that this module can be of much use to me.

What do you mean by fixed?

If you mean to change the format of existing content as it loads, that is way out of the scope of this module. You can set the default for all new content. Also, if you disallow a format either for the entire site or for a specific content type then that format will not be available to those users both on creation and editing forcing a new format to be used. But that does not affect existing content just being viewed. The only thing that would affect that is to disallow that format to be used for the whole site for that role.

If you mean set it so that that role can only use one format, then you set the default to the format you want them to use and remove the "show format selection" from that role. That forces the users to only use the default format as if only 1 format was available to them.
