Using cart links

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use this amazing module with Cart Links? I have a setup where users upload content that other can download for a fee, the money is split between the site and the user - this module is near perfect for what we want to achieve apart from the fact that we don't want to use external type links...the 'products' can only be accessed via cart links.

Background story:
It's a bit of a strange setup but it seems to meet our needs as best we can manage for now. Users have the choice whether or not they want to add one of these downloadable files to a larger page of information. The only way we can see for now of associating these downloadable files/products is for the user to upload them to the main page, we are then alerted to this and then manually add the file as a product and then create a cart link which we then add to the main page so that other users can then purchase and download the file.

If we could somehow incorporate the affiliate functionality to this process it would be awesome!! Oh, and is it easy/safe to remove the parts in the users profile area that lets them generate links etc?
